St. Charles Parish provides ongoing support for WIllow Place, a vitally important organization that helps those affected by Domestic Violence.

In Canada, every six days, a woman is tragically killed by her intimate partner. This alarming situation forces over 6,000 women and children to seek refuge in shelters each night as their homes become unsafe. Domestic violence is a significant issue, contributing to over 40,000 arrests annually, which make up about 12% of all violent crimes in the country.

The Family Violence Prevention Program works to address this problem by funding community-based initiatives that support women, children, and men affected by family violence. In Manitoba, a network of 33 agencies provides critical services, including ten women’s shelters, a provincial toll-free crisis line, and nine women’s resource centers.  Located in Winnipeg, Willow Place is one of these safe havens.

Willow Place provides comprehensive services, including secure housing, 24-hour staff support, meals, legal aid, E.I.A. assistance, and counseling. Additionally, they ensure educational continuity with an on-site school for children in grades K-8.

If you'd like to help, Willow Place needs the following items:

Household Essentials: Bath towels, blankets, flatware, unscented laundry pods, fabric softener sheets, Kleenex, paper towels, and single-ply toilet tissue.

Food Items: Cereal, coffee, tea, jam, peanut butter, fruit cups, and granola bars.
